As long-time admirers of her work, we were beyond excited to collaborate with Canadian, NYC-based designer Tanya Taylor on a limited-edition Misette x Tanya Taylor candle just in time for the holidays. Featuring a new punchy color palette with pops of zesty yellow, avocado green and berry purple inspired by her just-released opulent and artful Resort 2023 Collection, this is a stylish twist on our much-loved Colorblock Brushstroke candles.

“Just like my clothing designs, I treat my tablescapes as a blank canvas where I can pour my most creative self into,” adds the designer. “To create this [candle] for the holidays with my friends at Misette from back home in Canada just makes everything even more special.”

Curious to know what's Tanya’s process in putting together a jaw-dropping tablescape? We asked the designer to share her top five tips on creating a stunning holiday table every time.

Start with the mood you want to create.

“I think about the mood I like to capture closer to the time. This year, my mind is on all things tropical, which can be seen in my most recent collection. I'm thinking a colorful and print-heavy tablescape with tropical accents like mini pineapples and exotic florals placed at each place setting.”

Keep a collection of props and trinkets handy.

“I’m fairly spontaneous when it comes to putting together a table. Since I love collecting cool things from my travels, I have a trove of what I want to put on the table depending on the mood.”

Personal touches are always welcomed.

“My table always has an element of storytelling through special napkin rings I found on a trip, vases that a friend made, or dishes that represent someone–I like sharing my life through entertaining.”

Play with color (lots of it!).

“I love to shop for tableware that offers versatility of mixing and matching the colors–like the Colorblock collection, and in particular the Colorblock Confetti Vase. It’s a beautiful vessel for any kind of floral centerpiece I have in mind.”

Add an element of gluttony and surprise.

“I am a big lover of too many candles, thoughtful notes for each guest, too much wine and the best playlists. I believe in totally indulgent extreme dinner parties.”
